Wow! Am I writing a post about fall already? Yes I am! I am actually very excited about the fall season, which is actually my favorite season. I see fall as a time to slow down from the hustle and bustle of the summer. It's the perfect time implement new routines for school, work and life.
Even though my day to day life slows down a little in the fall, my active life does not. Fall is my favorite time of year for getting active. It's not too hot and not too cold. It's a great time for indoor and outdoor activities. I personally really enjoy outdoor activities during fall especially hiking.
Hikes are a great way to really experience nature. I am super blessed to live in Colorado which is a beautiful place the be during the fall season, especially for hikes! I love to see the leaves turn colors and just to get out in nature and enjoy the beauty of it all.
Hiking is a great way to stay active and fit all while enjoying nature and spending time outdoors. There are also several benefits you get from hiking and you can make your hike as easy or as difficult as you'd like.
Some benefits you get from hiking include:
Improved cardio-respiratory fitness (heart, lungs, blood vessels)
Improved muscular fitness
Lower risk of coronary heart disease and stroke
Lower risk of high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes
Lower risk of high cholesterol and triglycerides
Lower risk of colon and breast cancer, and possibly lung and endometrial cancer
Increased bone density or a slower loss of density
Reduced depression and better quality sleep
You also get to soak up some vitamin d and spend time catching up with friends and family.
These are just some of the reasons why hiking is a great way stay active during the fall season.
